Being an Advocate for the Wildflowers
April 2019
By Central Coast Wilds Team
Story by Jessica Calvillo.
With super blooms attracting thousands of visitors to California's wildlands, it's vital to stay on trails and avoid picking flowers. When people trample wildflower fields for photos, they destroy the plants before they can set seed, reducing future blooms and eliminating crucial pollinator habitat.
Be an advocate: stay on marked trails, don't pick flowers, share educational messages on social media, and support local conservation organizations working to protect California's natural heritage.
