Best Management Practice Success at CCW

Story by Maddie Ginn.

At Central Coast Wilds, we follow Best Management Practices (BMP) as part of the CalPhytos program to prevent the spread of destructive plant pathogens like Phytophthora into California's wildlands. Our stringent BMP production protocols include heat sterilization of all growing media, table-top production to prevent soil splash contamination, and rigorous documentation at every stage.

All propagation materials are carefully sourced and treated, and our staff receives specialized training in clean nursery practices. Every batch of plants undergoes quality control checks before leaving the nursery, ensuring that our restoration stock supports — rather than threatens — the health of California's native ecosystems.
